5 Ways To Update Your Look Without Makeup

New year! New you! I know, I know that phrase is completely worn out, just like some of our shoes. However, with every new year us women folk can get a little itch to try something different. Whether it is a whim resolution or a complete life plan, we all crave a little change every once in a while. Even if that doesn’t sound like you, we’re headed into a whole new decade! It’s time for a change, Sis!

Speaking of time, that’s something most busy 21st century women do not have a lot of. I enjoy playing in makeup as much as the next girl, but 45 minutes into a YouTube makeup tutorial I realized the makeup game has changed and I am not in it.  No way my mom life/entrepreneur changing  the world schedule allows time for contouring, highlighting, and sculpting every morning. I have a feeling you can relate.  However, I do care about my appearance. I want to feel a little boost of confidence even as I make my Wally World runs. Deion Sanders said it best, “When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you play good.”

We may not be hitting the field every Sunday, but we have enough on our plates to keep us running, and he was 100% correct. When we feel confident about our appearance it reflects in all we do.

So here’s to updating your look and not stressing out while we find your inner fabulous.

5 super easy, low cost, fun ways to update your look without makeup:

#1. Change your hair

Classic, right?  We know a great hair dresser can have you on cloud nine. But keeping a regular hair appoint isn’t always realistic. Luckily, there are some easy, quick changes we can make ourselves that will give us an updated look.

  1. Switch your part. Moving it from the middle slightly to side you can give yourself a nice little understated, trendy bang. Moving it to the opposite side completely with will even surprise you!
  2. Curl it or straighten it. Either one can be done with a good conditioner and a decent flat iron.
  3. Put it up or take it down. If you are a pony tail lover (like me) let your tresses free. If wash and go is your thing, try a messy updo. No need wait for a formal occasion to use a few bobby pins.

All of these subtle hair changes can update your look immensely, especially if you are creature of habit.

 #2. Try a new color.

This time I’m not talking about hair. If you take a quick glance at your closet, you will probably see A LOT of the same color family or pattern. Force yourself to pick out a color you haven’t worn in a while or a pattern you swore you’d never wear. We are our own worst critics. I am positive you look amazing in colors other than black.

 #3. Get new frames.

With most vision insurance covering frames every other year, or not at all, years wiz by before we realize our eyeglasses are majorly dated. Today eyeglass frames are just as trendy and constantly updating like clothing. Use a website like Zennioptical.com where you can try modern new frames at very reasonable prices.

#4. Wear you summer favorites all year.

Generally the summer is super casual and that’s one reason why we love it. Take some of those favorites with you all year. Add an over-sized blazer to your fav leggings. Put on a cardigan and some knee boots with that super comfy maxi dress.  Layers allow you add color and sass to those things we wear often.

 #5.  Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.

Fashion jewelry is an inexpensive (not to mention fun) way to glam up pretty much EVERYTHING! Cute earrings with a sweatshirt. A colorful necklace with that solid turtleneck. A set of bangles with your jeans. It all works! Sure, save your grandmother’s pearls for those rare black tie events. But make your Monday feel special with a little costume blingage. A necklace cannot only update your look, but it also magically adds a huge boost of confidence. Give it a try! You’ll be amazed with the results.

Happy updating YOU! Keeping your look fresh and modern is a lot easier than mainstream makes it seem. A little bit of extra thought and a few more minutes goes a long way.
